Hazard Description
Liquid rinse-aid can leak from its dispenser and drip onto the dishwasher’s internal wiring. This creates an electrical short and overheating condition that poses a significant fire hazard to consumers and their homes. GE received 191 reports of overheated wiring, including 56 reports of property damage and 12 reports of fires that escaped the dishwasher enclosure and spread into the kitchen.

This recall covers built-in dishwashers sold under the following brand names: Eterna, GE, GE Profile, GE Monogram, Hotpoint, and Sears Kenmore. Ge Dishwasher Recall What to Do
- Stop using the dishwasher immediately. Do not run any wash cycles until you have confirmed your unit is not affected.
- Disconnect the power by turning off the circuit breaker or removing the fuse controlling the dishwasher.
- Check your model and serial number on the inside door edge of the dishwasher.
- Contact GE toll-free at 1-800-432-2737 (general GE Appliances line) or the recall-specific line at (877) 607-6395, Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. ET.
- Choose your remedy: GE offered a free repair, a $150 rebate toward a new GE dishwasher, or a $300–$600 rebate toward a new GE Profile or Monogram dishwasher.
Urgency: HIGH. With 12 confirmed fires escaping the dishwasher, this recall poses a genuine structure-fire risk. Do not delay contacting GE if you own a GE, GE Profile, GE Monogram, Hotpoint, or Eterna dishwasher manufactured between 1997 and 2001.
